What's in My Hospital Bag

A prepped hospital bag for the arrival of the new family member. Includes a layout of clothes and products.

Ok, ok, I know that after having 2 kids already I should be able to easily pack my hospital bag for when this little one shows up. But, I have to say, I could not remember a darn thing I needed to pack—aside from a toothbrush and an outfit for baby to wear on our way home.  I started to panic about what to put in this bag a few weeks ago and have come up with what I think is a pretty well packed overnight bag for our hospital stay.

First, I needed a new duffel bag. I have a beautiful carry on suitcase that I love, but didn’t have a good weekender bag. I came across this Cuyana bag and was immediately smitten. Also, I love me a good monogram.

Delivery Gown. I know this isn’t a necessity but I’ve been obsessed with the Annie and Isabel hospital gowns since they launched. I love that I ordered the Susan gown, too. Since my mom’s name is Susan and I recently rediscovered my love of leopard. Can’t wait to put this to good use. (Also the co-founders of Annie and Isabel are just amazing. If you are in the market for a hospital gown for any reason, please do check them out)

Newborn gown (with matching hat OR bow).  I’m loving these newborn gowns from Lou Lou & Company. This gown is so soft and will be perfect for the little one. Since we don’t know if we are having a boy or a girl, I opted for this gender-neutral stripe. So cute!

Soft pajamas, robe, and nursing bra. I seriously could not remember what I wore while in the hospital the last times and had to look back at pictures. And, what I had packed before just looked sad.  I found this amazingly soft and adorable “Mama” robe from The Mama Notes by Baublebaum. The jammies are J.Crew and the nursing bra is an awesomely soft one from The Dairy Fairy. Ready for all the snuggles!

Toiletries, etc. So, maybe I am a bit vain, but mama will be putting some makeup on at some point during the stay. I can’t help myself. And, I will brush my hair. Bringing along some dry shampoo (if I don’t have time to wash my hair before delivery) and a few of my favorite hair and body care products. I opt for Tubby Todd, Beautycounter, Herbivore and Illia—anything non-toxic and safe for both baby and me.

Going home outfits. I went for a neutral white one piece for the baby and will add the little cap or bow from Lou Lou and Company depending on whether we get a boy or a girl!

Diapers and wipes: I used the monthly diaper service with Honest Co. with my first two babies and this round won’t be any different. I love that their diapers are non-toxic (perfect for that new baby skin) and come in adorable prints. Since we don’t know the gender, I opted for white ones for the first box.

For some miscellaneous items I am bringing: a wireless speaker for some jams throughout the process (my husband always makes a great playlist), a phone charger, a flameless candle to help set a calming mood, slippers for walking around the hospital, a portable hair dryer, and some blankets from home. Overall, I think I have everything covered and am so, so excited to meet this new little one.
