Hello 2019!

Welcome 2019! The new year brings with it excitement and promise and I love a fresh start. To me, 2018 was a pretty incredible year. It definitely had moments of sadness and anxiety, but overall it was a pretty kick-a$$ year. And, I’m SO excited to see what 2019 will bring. As I’m not one for resolutions, I decided that for this year I’m setting goals for myself. The goals are pretty simple—no need to overcomplicate things when life is already crazy enough. But, I’m hoping that I can create lasting lifestyle changes by incorporating these changes into my life.

For starters, I need to get more organized. And, organized in all aspects of my life. After watching a few episodes of Marie Kondo’s show I’m now more determined than ever to organize our living spaces. I know that it will make life much more efficient once the house is more organized. I’ve also realized that calendar management has not been my strong suit as of late (forgotten play dates, mixed up babysitter dates, late conference calls, eeeek). My goal for this year is to spend time each day going over the calendar to make sure I’ve not forgotten anything (and I love doing this on paper instead of on my phone calendar—I always remember something if I’ve physically written it down). And, I plan to pick a space each week to declutter, clean and organize. Clean, tidy and finally on time for 2019!

I’ve always been a workout fiend. I’ve tried every kind of class there is and I love them all. Over the last few years I’ve adjusted my workout style to include lifting heavier weights and sprint-type cardio and I love it. I love feeling strong and I also like feeling like I’ve just played a 90-minute soccer game after a workout. That said, being pregnant has limited my lifting/sprinting abilities. And, at the end of 2018 I really slacked off on my exercise. I know from experience (hello second pregnancy) that not working out will come back to bite me in the backside once this baby pops out. So, I’m aiming for at least 4 workouts a week—either at home or at the gym. I always feel better after a good sweat sesh and I also know it’s good for baby!

My man loves to spend time in the kitchen—and he is an amazing cook. Our problem is, we get stuck on one dish and make it all. the. time. Our shared goal for 2019 is to try out one new recipe a week and try to incorporate the ones we love into our routine. A few years ago I learned that I am sensitive to both gluten and dairy. So, we generally eat meals omitting both gluten and dairy (I also don’t eat red meat or pork). Shockingly it has been pretty easy to do and I don’t feel like I am missing out on anything. I am excited to try out some new recipes and mix it up a bit!

And, finally, 2019 is all about the breastfeeding mama. Providing fashionable and functional clothing options to breastfeeding moms is at the core of our mission. 2019 is off to a great start and I can’t wait to share all the fun partnerships and new collections Layton has coming later this Spring. Stay tuned! And cheers to you and yours this new year. I’d love to hear your new year’s goals, please share in the comments section.

XO,

Devon
